Springwinter and Spring

This instrumental music piece describes springwinter and spring in Tornio River Valley. We have eight seasons instead of four, and the spring is made up of springwinter and spring, which then continues in the springsummer…

The springwinter starts slowly. The amount of light grows, the shimmering snow and the bright blue skies curve over the skier. It’s the best time of winter! The sun shines brightly and warms up more and more. The eaves begin to drip, the creeks begin to burble, first quietly and then stronger and stronger.

Finally the snow melts and migratory birds return. It’s spring! The Tornio River is freed from the chains of ice and flows again towards the Bothnian Bay. The days are longer, the night lasts only for a moment. The spring concerto of the birds is magnificent to hear. The nature gets greener every day until it suddenly explodes up to full bloom!

VisaNordica – The Sound of the Northern Lights Route

The stories behind the songs are written by singer/artist/landscape architect Elina Söderström and all the songs and lyrics are written by singer-songwriter/producer Esa Rautiainen, from Studio E-City, which is one of the partners in the project Our Stories. Elina and Esa are also members of the music group VisaNordica.

Our task in this project was to make songs with historical perspective. We hope You enjoy the musical journey along the Northern Lights Route with us!

On talven paras aika! Aurinko paistaa kirkkaasti ja lämmittää päivä päivältä enemmän. Vesi alkaa tippua räystäiltä, pienet purot solisevat ensin hiljaa ja sitten aina vain voimakkaammin.

Lumi sulaa ja muuttolinnut palaavat. On kevät! Tornionjoki vapautuu jäiden kahleista ja virtaa jälleen vuolaana kohti Perämerta. Päivät pidentyvät, yö kestää vain hetken. Lintujen keväinen laulukonsertti on huumaava ja luonto alkaa vihertää, kunnes se yllättäen ”räjähtää” kukkaan!
