Kristin Mellem is a violinist educated at the music conservatories in Tromsø and Bergen. She has also studied drama, pedagogy and project management at the University of Tromsø.
As a performing and creative artist, Kristin has been particularly focused on Kven and Sami culture. She has been touring in Europe, the United States and Asia with her own music, and has had artistic assignments for a number of institutions, such as the Northern Light Festival, the North Norwegian Opera and Symphony Orchestra, Riddu Riddu, Beaivváš Sámi Našunálateáhter and the Torne Valley Theater. Her roles have been numerous – musical leader, composer, producer, musician and actor.
Kristin has been playing and touring with the band Boknakaran in northern Norway and Russia. She has also been employed as a symphony musician and has received several cultural prizes for her work.
