There was this one story that really remained in my mind really well, where this one women from the project told us a story, about gnomes ringing bells in woods. She told that there was this one time, when she and one of her friends were picking strawberries for her grandmother. They decide to take a break from the picking, and sit down to smoke some cigarettes and do some other ”teenage stuff” – witch means they were quite loud. Soon they heard bells ringing deeper on the woods. They fell silent and tried to listen more carefully. Then, suddenly someone shouted from the woods; ”Be quiet!”
The girls were frightened and started to run away so quick, that they left their strawberry baskets behind. They ran to her grandmother and told her about the situation. Grandmother then told that there was a lot of rumors about gnomes, who ring bells in the woods when someone is being too loud.

Kelloa soittavat menninkäiset
Mieleeni jäi erityisesti tarina, jossa eräs hankkeen henkilö kertoi kelloja soittelevista menninkäisistä. Tarinassa hän kertoi olleensa teini-ikäisenä poimimassa mansikoita ystävänsä kanssa mummolleen. He olivat päättäneet pitää välillä taukoa poimimisesta ja istahtaneet tien viereen istuskelemaan, polttamaan tupakkaa ja tekemään muita ”teinijuttuja”, eli kuulemma olivat olleet hyvinkin äänekkäitä. Pian he olivat kuulleet kellojen kilinää metsästä, ja jääneet kuuntelemaan kumpikin tarkemmin. Sitten metsästä oli kuulunut kovaan ääneen, kuin jonkun huutavan ”olkaa hiljaa!”
Tytöt olivat pelästyneet todella paljon ja lähteneetkin juoksemaan kovaa pakoon, olivat ilmeisesti mansikkakoritkin jääneet matkanvarrelle. Tytöt olivat juosseet kertojan mummon luo ja selittäneet tilanteen. Mummo oli sitten kertonut, että samalla kylällä olivat aiemminkin huhut kiertäneet menninkäisistä, jotka soittivat kelloja, jos jotkut olivat metelöineet niiden mielestä liikaa.
